Summer
2002 in GAP
The big top was becoming smaller and smaller. Having only 600 seats,
our task was to accommodate 800 young people present at this meeting.
OPEN
PODIUM
We couldn’t stop but hear unceasing impressions. As every single
year, CIJEM encourages and looks for new talents in the name of the Lord.
The open podium is a meeting point for all those who want to express themselves
and to share what they’ve received throughout the artistic expression.
Under Marie Gauthier’s guidance, the christian artist jury was there
to listen, to advise and to answer the questions of the young generation.
Stage, sound system and target audience were at the disposal of “on
air” performance during all the duration of CIJEM meeting.
“PUZZLE”
presented by Karen Lindreman from Paris .
The USA kids theatre company gave its performance both for the child and
the grown-up. The objective of this troupe is evangelisation! They want
to touch new generation by Jesus’ love. Their participation at CIJEM
is motivated by desire to engage French youth in the ministry targeting
kids. The goal to have been reached: their presentation at CIJEM gave
birth to the team consisting of 6 excited young people, who are in the
course of their tour preparation.
WORSHIP
TIME
Two bands-participants are responsible for worship time with youth. The
first is headed by Marie and Bruno Gautier, and the second one –
by Stéphane Quéry.
“I am blessed and glad to see young generation respond to God’s
call.” Stéphane Quéry
During
Sunday morning church service, Richard Charron (artist from Quebec) had
been fascinating us by his remarkable intervention. Converted at the age
of 25 years old in the Baptist church, he seemed to have acquired an impression
to be a person in a rut. But more than 7 years ago, all his life was transformed
owing to the new engagement with the Lord. Excited by this discovering,
he started to play and to sing for God.
Sunday
evening Christopher Hopper from USA made a hit with the audience by his
exceptional concert. He was accompanied by his younger 16 years old sister
Nathalie. The youth was extremely grateful for unforgettable memories
left by the concert!
What
an atelier to choose? They are 13? And all high-fly! Personal testimony,
missionary activity (MA), the Bible translation (Helene Balarin), targeting
students (Serge Laval - –EU), Vi7 Vie (CVA – Jean Pierre Dupond),
Street Dance (Sonja Block), facial expression (Roger Chas) and others.
It was amazing to see extraordinary young talents to give way to their
real feelings and emotions .
KIDS
A special page is set aside for kids who accompany their parents. Animation
team under the guidance of Marie Reine Savigny is particularly responsible
for these small curious people. Monday evening puppet show animated the
part of kids’ service. Animators took the advantage of the situation
and shared their personal experience about children’s impression.
It was so much simple! Who could imagine that this can make kid’s
audience be delighted? Owing to the presence of Holy Spirit, 17 children
gave their hearts to Jesus, and 7 were baptised in the Holy Spirit. It’s
a marvellous recompense to personal parent staff who makes its generous
contribution to God’s work.
Evangelisation
week
Filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit after CIJEM, a team of young people
left to conquer several French towns (8) and Geneva in Swetzerland.
-
Toulouse,
Toulouse Minines Church and its pastor Marc Sportiello were extremely
grateful to this year summer team.
-
Amiens was invaded by 70 young people guided by Philippe Calabria
and Eric Célérier, the speaker.
-
Avignon. Under the leadership of a dynamic team from Pau and pastor
Jean Michel Sanchez, evangelisation was successfully organised and
conducted directly at Avignon Festival.
-
Louviers, David Mastriforti took the young generation under its own
control.
-
Mante-La-Jolie, Philippe Dugard was responsible for the one week reception
of the Swiss team. What a mission!
-
Aubagne, Polish group especially arrived to participate in CIJEM.
They acquired an exceptional experience in the company of pastor Charles
Boucher (Canada).
-
Paris with Paul Ettori from Philadelphia Church.
-
Geneva, August 2 - 11, CIJEM youth team was given a cool reception
on pastor Walter Zanzen and 43 teenagers’ behalf who sacrificed
their time in order to present the Gospel in a creative and contemporary
manner. Impressive number of foreigners, vacationists, visitors and
walkers with whom we were debating in all possible and accessible
to us languages. Many young people not only shared their testimonies
but lead people to give their lives to God. Street public disposition
was astonishing and very encouraging. Saturday evangelisation took
place at Lake Parade (Gay Pride Swiss). For this annual event (from
that time on), the town was expected to welcome 600.000 visitors.
Young people interceded with passion and fever. Water jet was a particular
feature of the day. The result – only 200.000 were mentioned
by magazines to have arrived. Heaven overcame with wrath and Lake
Parade was wet stiff!
“Your testimony encouraged and stimulated all the assembly.
Geneva needs to hear God’s word over and over again. We also
want to meet christians who are a real testimony for their generation.
Come back next year. You are always welcome!” Pastor Walter
Zanzen
